Teachings & Guidance
In the terms of 'spiritual meaning,' the word 'Mirror,' conveys one of the main truths of what I
teach, that Nature, yes, both 'Human Bean (some profound humor here), Animal, Plant, Rock,
and Spiritual,' everything around us, can act as a 'Mirror' for both our 'Strengths,' as well as
areas in need of work. In other words, in the case of fellow 'humans,' when we receive encouraging
words, we are being gifted a reflection of 'what we are, or can be.'

A
fter years of studying, experiencing, and living the Native American Medicine Wheel,  when I
returned home to Texas
in 2005,  many of my 'new acquaintances,' the aforementioned 'Mirrors,'
with their suggestions and observations, began moving me in the direction that I needed to offer,
'Teach,' the Knowledge and Wisdom that had been gifted to me through 'Living Life through the
Native American Medicine Wheel!'

At the same time, I became even more aware of, and at times questioned, the Gifts of  Healing
and Vision that had been given to me. Now too, I feel these are the essences or 'gifts' that I need
to offer to my brothers and sisters as a part of my Lodge.

Animals, Minerals and Rocks, Trees and Flowers as Lessons and Guides:(I am
working to get more of the Guide pages up at the sister site of buffalonation.org with articles
regarding the Medicine Gifts--Lessons and Characteristics/Character, Attributes, and
Qualities, and their unique 'behaviors' and 'inherent ways of dealing with energy'). An integral
part of the Medicine Wheel Journey, much of our Spiritual DNA is revealed by the Animas of
Nature which are but a 'reflection' of who, what, and where we are in our Path! And, the Sacred
Standing Ones (Trees) can offer us a glimpse into our Directional Paths.

Directional Questing: It 'dawned on me' how appropriate that the name implies Questing for
Visions or Knowledge at two distinct times in our Life's Journey: Path! If we choose
'Directional' as the adjective, it is the Quest in each of the 'Directional Aspects' of our Soul in
the 'Self-Discovery' and 'Warrior Journey' in which we seek to learn of our guides and essences
in the 'Four Directions' and More! And given, that many of us, have at one time or another need
'Direction' in our Life (where do I go from here?0, I use a form of the Directional Quest upon
meeting a 'client' to 'assess' where there are in their Path and the 'blocks' and 'shadows' that
need to be addressed in beginning/contiuning their 'Journey.
See Directional Quest

Dream Interpretation: Although many tend to 'Fear' Dreams as being 'prophecies of
doom,' quite the contrary, many times, most 'Dreams' are 'revelatory,' as opposed to
'prophecy.' Meaning, 'Dream Maker' is trying to 'grab our attention' and cause us to perhaps
make some necessary changes in our Life's Path.

Healings
A forward is beneficial here to discuss the Healing ceremonies that I offer and the beliefs that I
hold regarding the act of Healing, please
See Healing.

Although some refer to it, the 'Gift or Talent' of 'Medical Intuition,' it occurs to me, that
perhaps, my 'Intuition' is but a 'speed drill' of the 'Y uwipi Ceremony
(please See Spirit
Healing: "Yuwipi"). At any rate, much if not all of my Healing Work takes place in the Spirit
Realms or the 'Unseen Realms' of the World of the client. For this, I AM indebted to the
'Knowingness'  and the 'Power' of the 'Spirit Guides.' With their assistance, no 'problem' or
'condition' seems to be out of reach of understanding the nature of the 'dis-ease,' which, I feel is
the 'Key' to any Healing, both immediate and long-term. And with all of this said, and if you have
read up on the "Yuwipi Ceremony," you will realize that it, the Ceremony in some form, is the
beginning of any 'Healing Work' that we engage in. And, so, all Healing work begins with some
form of the 'Yuwipi Ceremony.'

Frank Fools Crow who many may call a contemporary Holy Man of the Lakota (Oglala)
Nation practicing the 'Traditional Ways,' believed that he could cure any condition. Some may
think this arrogant or delusional on his part, if you read his biography, you will learn that neither
are true. His approach was to first determine if he wished to take the case of the individual, so
they first had to approach in the 'Indian Way--Tobacco-filled Pipe,' see later at the bottom of
the page. Then under the direction of 'Spirit,' various forms of a 'Yuwipi Ceremony' would be
conducted in which the 'curing occurred' followed by a 'recovery time' that might involve a
combination of 'rest and herbal remedies.' Some of his cases were truly 'Out of the World of
the Ordinary!'

Seeking Healing, Teaching or Guidance

In our 'society,' whether 'good or bad,' money can either be seen as a bartering exchange (to
paraphrase a 'mirror' of mine) of 'value,' or as something that has 'lost its value.' With all that
said,  in the 'traditional way' of many Native American societies,  an offering of tobacco was
considered as the first step in honoring the spirit healer, and communicated the heart's
commitment and intent to seek healing and assistance
(See Value and Exchange in Traditional
Native America).

In fact, the Lakota way was to present the healer or shaman a tobacco filled pipe (in current
times, a Natural Tobacco product is many times offered alone). In other words, it was the
beginning of the 'Sacred Exchange' of Honor and Respect. And, honored both the 'beseecher
and the guide.' But, more importantly, the filled pipe honored the 'Seven Directions: East,
West, South, North, Grandmother/Mother Earth, Grandfather, and The Great Spirit!'  Each
ceremony and ritual varies in its intensity and complexity as well as the needs of the person
seeking healing or guidance and teaching, so the values I have assigned to the various rituals,
ceremonies, and guidance, may not appear to have any pattern.  Furthermore, I prefer to treat
each individual and/or family as a 'unique case,' and determine a fair value at the time of our
initial meeting/converstaion. Regardless of financial status, everyone comes to this place with
varying degrees of Value in the Expectation and Need. Many, perhaps most(?) times, 'Spirit'
tells me how to proceed in this matter.

Since my 'gifts' are just that, a 'gift,' if anyone needs and truly desires to seek
the services that I o
ffer, alternative forms of value exchange can be
discussed.
Since we are ALL Related, No One of My Relatives should ever be
without. For them to be without, is contrary to the message of Buffalo Nation.

Mitakuye Oysain! "To All My Relations!"

White ElkDreamer June 2007
Welcome brothers and sisters, friends and family to my lodge! My 'spirit name' is White
ElkDreamer. As the beautiful 'Lakota' language would say, following a moving spiritual
experience: "Mitakuye Oyasin!"  Or, in English the saying more or less translates to "all my
relations!'
In other words, we are ALL Related, and I welcome all my relations to
my Lodge!
Many may not realize what the concept of a 'Lodge'
represents in Native America. And for that matter,
perhaps, the understanding I have of the term, as
applied to the more traditional ways, has been
broadened, but to me, a 'Lodge' is a place where
some 'essence, or quality or life spirit--anima, earthly
or heavenly, or principle' is held in
high-regard--Sacredness, and celebrated in a variety
of manners. What is noteworthy is that any quality,
essence or ritual and ceremony when made Sacred
through Sacred Language, imparts or 'gifts' its Power
and Medicine to the 'Keeper of the Lodge' and of
course to all who come to commune within the Lodge.
